Strategic Planning for Tech
JA Vitovsky Midlothian ISD Strategic Technology Plan
Mission and Vision Statement
Mission
-At J A Vitovsky the Mission is to create learning experiences through intentional actions that spark success for today and unlock potential for tomorrow through technology use.

Vision
-At J A Vitovsky the Vision is to inspire excellence and promote maximum potential in each individual student empowering students through technology use to reach their unlimited potential.

Priority Goals and Objective
Midlothian ISD priority goals:

-Develop a plan to ensure appropriate network infrastructure for anticipated future needs.
-Create a process to enable digital access for all future devices/programs for MISD.
-Allow administration and teacher collaboration.

Key Technology areas of work
-
1) Educator preparation and development
-
2) Infrastructure and Future needs of district
-
3) Leadership

Priority goals for each area of work:

Goal 1: Educator preparation and development - Provide professional development and educator preparedness on what and how technology should be used in the classrooms.
Goal 2: Infrastructure and Future needs of district- Provide bi-yearly school board awareness of district growth and technology innovation awareness to prepare for the technological needs of the district.
Goal 3: Leadership- Administration will collaborate with teachers to create technology classroom guidelines on technology use.

Goal Alignment:
I believe all the goals align with the district's priority goals because in order to develop a plan to meet the future needs of our students we need to see what is going on in the classrooms. In order to meet the educational needs for our students teachers need to know how this generation is learning with technology use, and teachers need to know how to incorporate the technology. If teachers are uneducated on technology use and how to get students to create versus consume then the benefits of technology are not as beneficial to the students. There also needs to be time for administration and teachers to collaborate and discuss the needs of the classroom.
Objective : Create a plan that is intentional, inspires excellence and promotes technology-driven instruction that will grow influential leaders.

Strategic Advantages

-We can build or expand our current teacher tech training opportunities to overcome our struggling teachers who need more training in technology use in the classroom. We can leverage teacher training given our relationship(s)/partnership(s) with administration support.
-We can build or expand our student creation using technology opportunities to overcome our consumption (game like) activities using technology. We can leverage creation given our relationship(s)/partnership(s) with our instructional coach support in the district.
-We can build or expand our professional development during school hours to overcome our time management in planning engaging technology lessons in the classroom. We can leverage professional development given our relationship(s)/partnership(s) with instructional coaches and administration support.
Strategic Challenges
- If we don’t address lack of teachers uneducated on certain programs using technology, we can’t be the school/department we aspire to be. If we could only provide additional technology learning course, we would become a school/department characterized by innovative engaging instruction.
-If we don’t move students away from consumption using technology and towards creation, we can’t be the school/department we aspire to be. If we could encourage student differentiation in technology assignments, we would become a school/department characterized by innovative higher order instruction achieving blooms highest level of development.
-If we don’t address time management, we can’t be the school/department we aspire to be. If we could only provide additional professional development during school hours, we would become a school/department characterized by prepared, collaborative technology lesson planning.
